wedding preps update...10 months to go Thursday, July 01, 2004 one reason why i wanted to do this blog thing is because i wanted to document my progress in terms of our wedding preps.ok, so...status report. here's what we've accomplished so far: church - st. james the great parish, ayala alabang what can i say, i love the church! it's beautiful and it's big...which means i have a looong walk down the aisle. reservation fee has been paid c/o daddy-in-law-to-be, and the schedule for the seminars, etc is still in january 2005! reception - the palms country club, filinvest we were looking really for a hotel/ballroom type of place so we didn't have to worry about catering and all that. we also wanted it to be somewhere south, near where we live (paranaque). the first place we checked out was the bellevue manila, but when we entered the hotel, we already found it too small. and when we saw the ballroom, it had a low ceiling and it wasn't what we had in mind. so we scrapped it from our list. the next place whe checked out was vivere suites, and we looooved the lobby. high ceiling, a staircase, woodsy interior, trees and plants everywhere. their ballroom was a bit small, but the ae said that they were renovating this july and it will be bigger, enough to accommodate 300 guests. we immediately requested to be pencil-booked. we were pretty set on vivere already, when we decided to still check out the palms. it's fairly new and a lot of people said that the place was very nice. when we went and met the ae, she showed us around and the ballroom was great. it had a high ceiling, and it was very spacious. their grounds are beautiful, especially the pool area. after a few weeks of discussing with schmuck, we finally decided to book the palms. reservation fee paid! wedding cake - alex franco being a w@wie, you will realize that this man has an untainted reputation. he is known to be such a nice and humble guy, and he makes these beautiful all-edible cakes that are absolutely delish! everyone just raves about him! when i checked out his website, i was fixated. i immediately told schmuck that i wanted to get alex franco to do our wedding cake. being the sweetie that he is, schmuck agreed even though there was already a 3-layered fondant cake in the package of the palms. i've called alex (he's truly nice) and we're already pencil booked! we're set to meet this august to discuss the details. photo/video - john mateos ong this is one of the things that almost drove me crazy. there are so many talented photogs/videogs out there and it's so difficult to choose. i was checking websites night after night and i wasn't coming closer to any decision at all. finally, after much advise from fellow w@wies, i had a shortlist. the first one i met with was jong, since i knew him from college. schmuck and i went to his shop in shangri-la mall, and he showed us his albums and videos. he gave us a very good deal, and the price was within our budget. most importantly, schmuck and i felt really comfortable with him. he's just so funny! after we met with jong, we already knew we were going to get him. we scrapped the others in our shortlist. will meet with jong next week to pay the reservation fee, and to sign the contract. bridal car - studebaker woohoo!!! now this one's a freebie, c/o the friend of daddy-in-law-to-be. we're gonna be riding in style!!! confirmed with the owner already! officiating priest - fr. paul i think this is a relative of schmuck's, but i'm not quite sure. hehehe! but anyway, daddy-in-law-to-be has already confirmed this as well. well, that's it so far. i think i pretty much have the important ones already. what's next? i don't really know now. the gowns, i guess? hmmmmm...have to check with my sisters at w@w... |
